Classroom Rules and Expectations

The purpose of this class is to teach students the basics of creating websites through lectures, practice exercises, and “real-life” examples.

Attendance:  Regular attendance in class is obviously essential to the learning process and is expected of all students.  In the event of an absence, it is YOUR responsibility to find out what work was missed and have it completed upon your return to class.

Behavior:  I will treat the classroom very similar to how you are treated in the “real” world.  I expect students to be in uniform, prepared for class, and courteous in all situations.  If it becomes habit for the student to be tardy, it could potentially result in the lowering of your final grade.  I expect students to properly use their computer accounts.  Games, Streaming Video, and inappropriate pictures/websites will not be tolerated.  In addition, there is no food or drinks allowed in the computer lab, and a violation of these rules, or to the DeMatha Computer Code of Ethics, can result in a loss to your privilege to use the computer at DeMatha Catholic High School.

Grading Scale:  Your grade will be calculated off total possible points.  These points will be accumulated based upon quizzes, class work, and projects.

A = 100-94 / A- = 93-90 / B = 89-84 / B- = 83-80 / C = 79-74 / C- = 73-70 / D = 69-65 / F = Below 65

Class work:  Class work will be given out and checked regularly and will include various assignments and projects.  There will also be multiple projects and in-book labs that will be assigned.

Materials Needed:  Each student should have the book (HTML, XHTML, and CSS 6th edition; Shelly/Woods; ISBN 0-538-74745-5), a notebook to take notes, and a pen and pencil.

Quizzes: There will be about 3-5 quizzes throughout the semester.  Some will be done on the computer and some will be written.  They will be announced.
